Available Supports and Adjustments During Soft-Start Sensory-Friendly Zoo Mornings

From 9:30am to 11:30am on the selected Soft-Start Sensory-Friendly Zoo Mornings, we will offer additional supports and resources across the Zoo to help create a calmer and more comfortable experience for visitors including:

  • A Dedicated Calm Space
Located at the Farmhouse, this quiet and welcoming space is supported by our volunteers and offers relaxing activities such as colouring and exploring biofacts.
  • Sensory Signage
Look out for helpful signs highlighting areas that may be busier, noisier, or have stronger smells, so you can plan your route and explore the Zoo at your own pace.
  • ‘Hop the Queue’ Option
If waiting in line feels difficult, simply follow the signage at the Front Gate and in the Zoo Shop to skip the queue and enter with ease.
  • Planning Tools
We also provide online resources to help you prepare for your visit, including:

Top Tips for Your Visit

  • Support Items Are Welcome: We encourage visitors to bring any items that help them feel comfortable and supported, including (but not limited to) ear defenders, sensory tools, or fidget toys.
  • Plan Ahead: We recommend checking our Accessibility Webpage before you arrive to you access regularly updated information about temporary changes that may impact your visit – for example, maintenance works that may create noise pollution, or a change to food outlet opening hours.

Please note: These mornings are intended to offer extra support and understanding for visitors who find busy environments challenging. Dublin Zoo will continue to welcome all visitors and groups, and visitor capacity will not be reduced during these times.
