  • What dates will Wild Lights take place at Dublin Zoo?

    Wild Lights opens on Thursday, 28th of October 2021 and runs until Sunday, 9th January 2022.

    Please see evenings available on selected months:

    • October: The last Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the month
    • November: Every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
    • December: Every evening (Monday – Sunday). However, it will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and St. Stephen’s Day
    • January: Saturday, 1st January – Sunday, 9th January

    Admission times to Wild Lights are as follow:

    December & January

  • What is included in this year’s Wild Lights?

    Back in all of its dazzling glory, Wild Lights will take you on a magical adventure ‘Around the world’ where you will see some of the most famous global landmarks and iconic symbols.

    From Spain to India and Morocco to the USA – embark on a breath-taking journey taking in the famous sights from all the continents. Explore the ancient Egyptian pyramids, take a romantic stroll by the Eiffel Tower and even jet off to outer space – all through a stunning display of giant colourful silk lanterns!

    Spark your sense of adventure by following the one-way trail to see over a thousand incredible, illuminated lanterns as they transform Dublin Zoo into the ultimate trip ‘Around the world’.

  • What will be different this year compared to previous years?

    • Safety measures – To encourage social distancing measures and ensure the safety of our staff, the animals and our visitors, there will be timed entry slots, the Wild Lights route will follow a one-way trail and there will be no live performances or Christmas stalls. There are also a number of contactless hand-sanitizing stations available to support the hand hygiene guidelines.
    • New route – This year’s Wild Lights will include a portion of the African Plains. The new route will take you on a magical adventure ‘Around the world’ where you will see some of the most famous global landmarks and iconic symbols. From Spain to India and Morocco to the USA – embark on a breath-taking journey taking in the famous sights from all the continents. Explore the ancient Egyptian pyramids, take a romantic stroll by the Eiffel Tower and even jet off to outer space – all through a stunning display of giant colourful silk lanterns!
  • Is my time limited?

    No, once you enter Dublin Zoo, your time is not limited and you can stay until we close.

    Please note that there are timed entry slots and you must adhere to the social distancing measures we have put in place, including following the one-way trail.

     

    Please remember to double-check the last entry time for the date you’ll be visiting.

  • Who is Wild Lights suitable for?

    The experience is suitable for all ages, families, couples and groups alike. This experience is wheelchair and buggy accessible.

  • Is the Wild Lights’ route wheelchair and buggy accessible?

    Yes, the route has been designed so that wheelchairs and buggies can get around as easily as possible.

  • Can I rent a wheelchair?

    We have 10 wheelchairs available at the front gate which are cleaned and sanitised before each use. To reserve a wheelchair, please email info@dublinzoo.ie with your name and the date and time of your visit.

  • Will I see any animals?

    No, it’s very unlikely you’ll see the animals as at that time of year they’ll mostly be in their indoor habitats and houses where it’s warm!

  • If I buy a Wild Lights ticket, can I come to the Zoo in the daytime?

    No, Wild Lights admission tickets do not give admission to the Zoo during daytime operating hours.

  • Will Wild Lights go ahead in bad weather?

    Wild Lights will still go ahead unless weather conditions are deemed unsafe for our visitors, staff and animals, in which that specific date will be cancelled. Please see our cancellation policy below

  • What should I wear?

    Please be aware that this is an outdoor winter experience so please dress appropriately.

  • I have luggage, where can I leave it?

    Dublin Zoo will not have facilities available to store any visitor’s belongings.

  • Are there cash machines on-site?

    There is one ATM on-site at Wild Lights, located in the main gift shop at the exit of the Zoo.

  • Security Arrangements for Entry

    Entry to Wild Lights is subject to bag searches. For the safety and enjoyment of all attending, An Garda Síochána and Dublin Zoo request that patrons leave bags at home while attending Wild Lights.

    Note: In line with standard protocol for past Wild Lights, backpacks and large bags are not be permitted. Only small bags measuring no bigger than A4 (8.27in/21cm x 11.7/ 29.7cm) will be permitted into the Zoo.

    Exceptions will be made for people with medical conditions and children, but all bags will be subject to search.

    This is an alcohol and drug-free experience.

    Management reserves the right to refuse admission and to eject any persons attempting to interfere with Wild Lights at Dublin Zoo or gain access to any non-public areas within the Zoo. Please note and adhere to all public signage and staff instructions while in the Zoo.

  • Is the Gift Shop open?

    Yes, the Dublin Zoo gift shop is open. In line with the latest government directives, face coverings will be worn by our retail staff and must be worn by all customers when in the Dublin Zoo Gift Shop.

    There is also a click and collect option available, where you can choose your Dublin Zoo zoovenir and collect it at the click and collect hatch on your way out. For more information, please click here.

    Alternatively, you can visit our online Zootique to purchase your Dublin Zoo gifts and have them posted out to you.

  • Will the toilet facilities be open?

    Yes, there will be select toilets available along the trail. These will be cleaned regularly throughout the day. Please remember this is a one-way system so if you miss the toilet stop on your route you must carry on until you find the next toilet facility.

  • Will the cafes be open?

    To ensure strict social distancing measures can be adhered to during Wild Lights, the cafes will not be open.  There will be select food and beverage kiosks available for takeaway services along the trail.

  • What can I do to ensure the health and safety of others at Dublin Zoo?

    We ask visitors to follow HSE guidelines and wear a face covering or mask where staying 2 metres apart from people is difficult. If you must cough or sneeze, please do so into your elbow, not into your hand or into the air. There are also a number of contactless hand-sanitizing stations available to support the hand hygiene guidelines.

  • Will visitors be required to wear face masks?

    We ask visitors to follow HSE guidelines and wear a face covering or mask where staying 2 metres apart from people is difficult For more information, please visit the HSE website.

  • What date are tickets for Wild Lights on sale?

    Tickets are on sale from Thursday 23rd of September 2021. Tickets will be available online only on www.dublinzoo.ie

  • How do I buy tickets?

    Tickets are only available to buy online in advance at www.dublinzoo.ie

    There will be no ticket sales available from the ticket office at Dublin Zoo or over the phone.

  • How long will my ticket be valid for?

    Wild Lights is a date and time-specific experience. Tickets are valid for the chosen date and time of booking ONLY.

    Tickets are non-refundable.

  • I got a free pass when I adopted an animal, can I use this code to book a ticket?

    These codes can only be used to book a day ticket into Dublin Zoo and cannot be used to purchase a Wild Lights ticket.

  • What is the entrance cost to Wild Lights?

    General Public

    • Adults: €22
    • Child: €18
    • Under 3s: €0 (a ticket is still required that must be added to online purchase free of charge)
    • Student: €19
    • OAP: €19

    Annual Pass Holders

    • Adults: €20
    • Child: €16
    • Under 3s: €0 (a ticket is still required that must be added to online purchase free of charge)
    • Student: €18
    • OAP: €18

  • Do Children under 3 go free?

    Yes, children aged under 3 go free to Wild Lights but they must have a valid ticket to enter which can be added to your purchase free of charge at www.dublinzoo.ie

  • Students/Senior Citizens

    Students and Senior Citizens can attend Wild Lights at a discounted rate. They must bring a valid ID when presenting their ticket at the gate.

  • Visitors with Additional Needs

    There are no concession tickets available for visitors with additional needs aside from the entry of a free carer, a standard child or adult ticket must be purchased.

    Visitors with additional needs may admit one accompanying carer free of charge when attending Wild Lights. Free of charge carer tickets are required for entry and can be added to your basket alongside the rest of your tickets.

    Please bring relevant ID and documentation, such as an IAA Autism ID card, or an associated membership card that confirms the visitor is unable to visit Wild Lights at Dublin Zoo independently without the aid of a carer or mobility aid.

  • I would like to make a corporate booking or a booking for a large group, how do I book and what are the rates?

    Corporate bookings can be made by emailing the Wild Lights Team at wildlights@dublinzoo.ie or by calling (01) 4748900.

  • Can I change the date of my Wild Lights ticket?

    Dublin Zoo offers Wild Lights ticket purchasers the option to change the date of their tickets up to 7 days before the date of the original ticket to Wild Lights.

    There are two options:

    1. If you have set up an online account with DigiTickets when you purchased your Wild Lights tickets, you can change your date free of charge up to 7 days before the date of the original ticket to Wild Lights.
    2. You can also email the Wild Lights Team to change your ticket dates, this can be done up to 7 days before the date of the original ticket. Using this option, there will be an admin fee of €2 per ticket for date changes. If you wish to avail of this option, please email wildlights@dublinzoo.ie with your booking reference, the date you booked, the date you would like to change to, the name and email address you used to book and a contact telephone number.

     

    There is no option to change ticket dates if it is less than 7 days from the date of the original ticket.

  • How far in advance do I need to book?

    Tickets go on sale from 23rd September and will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Book early to avoid disappointment!

  • Do I need to print my ticket for entry?

    No, we don’t require tickets to be printed. E-tickets can be scanned on any mobile device. However, if you wish to print your ticket we will accept them in paper format too.

  • I don't have my ticket confirmation, what should I do?

    You should have received an email from Dublin Zoo after booking with your ticket information however, due to high volumes of site traffic on certain dates, this is sometimes delayed. If you have not received this, have a look in your junk/spam email folder. If you are still having difficulties, email wildlights@dublinzoo.ie with your booking reference, the date you booked, the name and email address you used to book and a contact telephone number, and we will be happy to help.

  • If I buy a Wild Lights ticket, can I come to the Zoo in the daytime?

    No, Wild Lights admission tickets do not give admission to the Zoo during daytime operating hours.

  • Do Dublin Zoo Annual Pass holders get a discount?

    Yes, if you have a valid Dublin Zoo annual pass card then you will be entitled to a discount. The rate for annual pass adults is €20 and children is €16.

  • Do Fota Wildlife Park Annual Pass holders get a discount?

    No, we do not offer a discount for Fota Wildlife Park’s annual pass holders.

  • What do I need to avail of the Annual Pass holder’s discount?

    A valid Dublin Zoo annual pass is required to avail of the annual pass discount. You will be required to enter your unique annual pass number when booking online. A valid annual pass matching the name on the Wild Lights ticket will also need to be presented on arrival at the Dublin Zoo entrance. Normal annual pass T&Cs apply.

  • How to get to Wild Lights in Dublin Zoo?

    Dublin Zoo is situated in Phoenix Park in the city of Dublin. The city is easily accessible from all over Ireland by car, bus and train. Dublin Zoo is a 20-minute walk from Heuston Station and from the LUAS red line stop.
    Dublin Bus routes close to Dublin Zoo: 25, 26, 46A, 66 / 66A / 66B, 67, 69

  • Is there car parking at Wild Lights?

    There is no specific car parking for Wild Lights in Dublin Zoo, although there are free car parking spaces around the Phoenix Park which include the Lord’s Walk car park and the North Road. Click here for more information.

Cancellation Policy

  • What is Dublin Zoo's ticket cancellation policy for Wild Lights?

    Dublin Zoo does not offer refunds for Wild Lights tickets apart from in the event of a venue closure actioned by Dublin Zoo.

    In the event of a cancellation of Wild Lights, attendees will be notified at the earliest convenience by email to the email address used to book the tickets. It is the responsibility of the attendees to check their emails before departing for Wild Lights to check for any updates, and to make sure email addresses are correctly entered when booking tickets.

    In the event of a cancellation, attendees will be given a full refund which they will receive within 15 working days of the cancelled experience.

    Dublin Zoo accepts no responsibility for a customer’s inability to attend Wild Lights due to any external factor including but not exclusive to traffic restrictions, illness, weather conditions etc.

    Dublin Zoo reserves the right to change or update event timings and content up to and on the day of the event.

  • What happens if my date is cancelled?

    Dublin Zoo reserves the right to cancel any nights of the Wild Lights for any reason deemed necessary for the safety and well-being of our visitors, staff and animals including unsafe weather conditions.

    In the event of a cancellation of Wild Lights, attendees will be notified at the earliest convenience by email to the email address used to book the tickets. It is the responsibility of the attendees to check their emails before departing for the Wild Lights to check for any updates and to make sure email addresses are correctly entered when booking tickets.

    In the event of a cancellation, attendees will be given a full refund which they will receive within 15 working days maximum of the cancelled date.
