Wild Lights, Dublin Zoo’s night-time spectacular, will return this winter from Friday 1st Nov until Sunday 5th January. Tickets go on sale for Annual Pass holders on 18th September 2019 and on 20th September for the general public. Get your tickets early to avoid disappointment!

  • What dates will Wild Lights take place at Dublin Zoo?

    Wild Lights opens on Thursday 1st of November 2019 and runs until Sunday, 5th January 2020.

    Please see evenings available on selected months:

    • November: Every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
    • December: Every evening (Monday – Sunday). However, it will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and St. Stephen’s Day.
    • January: Wednesday 1stJanuary – Sunday 5th January

     

  • What time does the event start and finish?

    Admission to Wild Lights is from 5pm – 9pm. Last entry to the event is strictly 8pm.

  • Who is the event suitable for?

    The event is suitable for all ages, families, couples and groups alike. This event is wheelchair and buggy accessible.

  • What is included in the event?

    Wild Lights 2019 has a brand new theme – Stories, Myths and Legends!

    With magical scenes from well-known stories like the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Peter Pan and the Jungle Book…to best-loved nursery rhymes and characters from Irish Mythology – all brought to life by dazzling, giant colourful silk lanterns!

    See over a thousand breath-taking, illuminated lanterns transform Dublin Zoo into an enchanted wonderland as darkness falls.

    There will also be live Chinese performers, as well as food and drink stalls for some tasty and warming treats!

  • Will I see any animals?

    No, it’s very unlikely you’ll see the animals as at that time of year they’ll mostly be in their indoor habitats and houses where it’s warm!

  • If I buy a Wild Lights ticket, can I come to the Zoo in the daytime?

    No, Wild Lights event admission tickets do not give admission to the Zoo during daytime operating hours.

  • Will the event go ahead in bad weather?

    Wild Lights will still go ahead unless weather conditions are deemed unsafe for our visitors, staff and animals, in which the event will be cancelled. Please see our cancellation policy below.

  • What should I wear?

    Please be aware that this is an outdoor winter event so please dress appropriately.

  • I have luggage, where can I leave it?

    We have a small number of lockers at the Zoo where you can leave small bags e.g up to the size of a carry on suitcase. These will be filled on a first-come, first served basis. We don’t have facilities to take large suitcases.

  • Are there cash machines on site?

    There is one ATM on-site at Wild Lights, located in the main gift shop at the entrance of the Zoo.

  • Security Arrangements for Entry

    Entry to Wild Lights is be subject to bag searches. For the safety and enjoyment of all attending, An Garda Síochána and Dublin Zoo request that patrons leave bags at home while attending Wild Lights.

    Note: In line with standard protocol for recent events, backpacks and large bags are not be permitted. Only small bags measuring no bigger than A4 (8.27in/21cm x 11.7/ 29.7cm) will be permitted into the venue.

    Exceptions will be made for people with medical conditions and children, but all bags will be subject to search.

    This is an alcohol and drug free event.

    Management reserves the right to refuse admission and to eject any persons attempting to interfere with Wild Lights at Dublin Zoo or gain access to any non-public areas within the Zoo. Please note and adhere to all public signage and staff instructions while in the Zoo.
