Event Details

  • Event date: July 26th 2025 
  • Arrival time for registration: from 7:30am (Race start time: 8:30am sharp) 
  • Course distance: 3km 
  • Tickets: must be pre-booked online in advance, no participant or supporter tickets will be sold on the day of the event. 
  • Age restrictions: Participants must be aged 16yrs and over. Children and adults of any age can attend the event as supporters. Children must be supervised at all times during the event. 
  • Dublin Zoo will open to the general public at 10:30am and race participants and supporters are welcome to stay and experience all that Dublin Zoo has to offer.

Booking FAQs

  • When do tickets go on sale?

    Tickets will go on sale to the general public on May 20th at 10am. Be quick! Spaces are limited.  

  • Does my ticket include zoo day entry?

    Both participants and supporters are welcome to stay and spend the day at Dublin Zoo. The general public will be able to gain entry from 10:30am. Please be advised that exit and re-entry is not possible.  

  • Can children participate in the run?

    Children are more than welcome to attend as supporters (tickets essential) but only those aged 16yrs and over can enter the race as a participant.

  • Can I purchase normal day entry tickets for my family/friends so they can accompany me?

    Only those with ‘Run for Wildlife’ event tickets can gain entry to the event. 

  • My family/friends have an annual pass, can they use that to enter as supporters?

    Only those with ‘Run for Wildlife’ event tickets can gain entry to the event. Annual pass holders are welcome to enter once normal day entry hours begin at 10:30am 

  • Can I use my Tesco tokens, SSE discount code, or day entry voucher code(s) when booking?

    No, Tesco tokens, SSE discount codes, and day entry voucher codes cannot be used in conjunction with special events. 

  • I noticed supporters, including children, have to pay entry – what will they do while I’m running?

    We have plenty of activities planned to keep supporters, big and small, happy while they enjoy the festive atmosphere. Keep an eye on our social media channels for a special announcement about our first ever Conservation Celebration!  

  • Is the run accessible?

    Due to the distance required the route includes steps, uneven ground and hilly areas. Dublin Zoo is over 190 years old and contains a number of old buildings and structures. All runners are welcome but we ask that participants only enter the race if they believe they are physically able to complete the course. Please consult your doctor if you have any doubts. 

  • I’ve purchased tickets but can’t make it, can I get a refund?

    No, tickets are strictly non-refundable as per our terms and conditions.

Event FAQs

  • What is the event raising money for?

    This year we are raising vital funds for Selamatkan Yaki, a conservation organisation based in Indonesia, working to create a brighter future for the Sulawesi crested macaques. 

  • What time do I need to be there?

    Entry begins at 7:30am, please arrive with enough time to register, store your belongings, and make your way to the start line.  

  • How long is the course?

    The course is 3km in length. 

  • Is the course on flat ground?

    The course includes steps, uneven ground and hilly areas. 

  • Can supporters arrive later than runners?

    Supporters and participants should enter together from 7:30am onwards and  before the start of the race (strictly 8:30am). Runners will head off to register while supporters can enter the designated supporter area. 

  • Can supporters line the route to cheer on runners?

    Due to the width of roads and pathways it won’t be possible for supporters to line the route, instead there will be a dedicated supporter area for friends and family.  

  • Will there be food and drink available?

    There will be food and drinks available on the day of the event. For more information about specific options please get in touch closer to the day.  

  • Will animals be visible?

    There will be animals visible along the route, but some animals aren’t too fond of early mornings and may still be in their indoor habitats. 

  • Can my kids wait for me in the supporter area while I run?

    Children 15yrs and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times. If you are bringing your children along, please make sure you have purchased an Adult Supporter ticket so that another adult can supervise them while you take part 

  • Where can I leave my bag/belongings?

    There will be a bag drop location available for use on the day. While all safety precautions will be followed, please be advised that belongings are left at the owner’s risk and Dublin Zoo accepts no responsibility for lost, damaged or stolen items.  

  • Will there be toilets open?

    Yes, there will be toilets open for use before and after the run and in the supporter area for friends/family. A Changing Places accessible bathroom with changing table and hoist is located beside the supporter area. 

  • Can we bring the dog?

    Guide dogs, assistance dogs, and domestic pets are not permitted entry to Dublin Zoo. 

  • Can I dress up as an animal or wear fancy dress?

    We love your creativity but for animal welfare reasons we can’t allow participants or supporters to dress up.  

  • Will my run time be tracked?

    No, but you are welcome to track your time yourself by using a tracker watch or similar. 

  • Will there be photography?

    Yes, photographs will be taken during the event and may be used for promotional purposes by Dublin Zoo and/or our event partners. Both participants and supporters may appear in these photographs. 

  • Is there parking available?

    Dublin Zoo has no customer parking. There is free parking available within the Phoenix Park and this falls under the remit of the OPW and Park Superintendent’s Office. The nearest carpark is the Lord’s Walk carpark and spaces are also available along the North Road. 

  • Do I have to raise sponsor money?

    No, money will be raised from participant ticket sales.  

  • Can I run the race and raise money for another charity?

    Conservation is at the heart of everything we do here at Dublin Zoo and with your help we can support wildlife protection and habitat preservation. Funds raised will go towards creating a brighter future for Sulawesi crested macaques through the vital work of  Selamatkan Yaki, a conservation organisation based in Indonesia. If you want to raise money for another charity, there are other races held across Ireland where this is possible and we would encourage you to do so
