Primary Teachers’ Summer Course 2025

Dublin Zoo’s DES approved week-long summer course 2025: ‘Cultivating the Next Generation of Conservationists’.
This course aims to provide participants with active engagement in teaching and learning about Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) with an emphasis on conservation education. It provides participants with the skills, knowledge and confidence to teach about nature and conservation in their classrooms. The course will assist teachers in fostering positive connections to nature in their classrooms and motivating their students towards pro-environmental actions.
Topics will be delivered by expert facilitators in our Conservation Education Centre and from our immersive living classroom, the grounds of Dublin Zoo. Teachers participating will have exclusive access to our state-of-the-art teaching spaces as well as the opportunity to explore the zoo after the daily programme.

Note: this course is aimed at those who teach 3rd – 6th class but all teachers are welcome.
We will have two separate weeks available to book. The content will be the same each week, we do not recommend booking both weeks. Please note that your ticket will be valid only for the date you book. We will do our best to accommodate changes to your booking but cannot guarantee a switch will be available. Please note that we cannot offer refunds for cancelled or unused tickets.

Week 1: 1st – 5th July – 5 days (20 hours) please note that the last day of the course is a Saturday
Week 2: 7th – 11th July – 5 days (20 hours)
The course will run from 10am – 3pm each day
Your three EPV days are granted upon completion of the full 5 days of the course. Any deviation from this may result in the loss of some, or all, of your EPV days. They are granted at the sole discretion of Drumcondra Education Centre and all queries about EPV days will need to be sent them directly: [email protected]

Important:
- This course will take place in person, in Dublin Zoo;
- If you purcahse a ticket after 5pm on Friday 27th June, please note you will not receive additonal information until Monday at 9am.;
- Tickets non-transferable and non-refundable;
- We provide tea/coffe during the morning break but we do not provide lunch.
