To celebrate the magic of rainforests and inspire a love for these incredible ecosystems, Dublin Zoo invites readers of InTouch magazine to enter their students in an exciting competition.

It’s a chance for students to explore the wonders of the rainforest, learn why they are so important, and discover how they can help protect them for the future.

The winning students will receive family invitations to visit Dublin Zoo in 2026, plus a fantastic rainforest-themed class gift pack!

COMPETITION 1: Rainforest Animal Art

Who can enter?  

Students from Junior Infants – 2nd Class

What to do  

Draw or paint your favourite rainforest animal. It could be a monkey, parrot, sloth, frog – or even one you invent!

Top tip  

Try to use bright colours and think about where your animal lives in the rainforest.

COMPETITION 2: Rainforest Action Poster

Who can enter?  

Students from 3rd Class – 6th Class

What to do  

Design a poster that explains:
1. Why the rainforest is important
2. Ways people can help protect it (for example: recycling, using less paper, supporting rainforest charities)

Top tip  

Use bold titles, pictures, and clear messages to catch attention.

    Dublin Zoo Rainforest Competition T&Cs 
    • All student entrants who have an entry submitted on their behalf by teachers must be in a primary or special school, up to 6th class level. 
    • The teacher of the Entrants agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions of the Competition; failure on the part of teacher to adhere to any or all these terms and conditions may render an entry invalid. 
    • No applications from agents, third parties, organised groups or applications automatically generated by computer will be accepted. Incomplete or corrupted entries or those not in accordance with the entry instructions will not be accepted. 
    • All entries shall be the property of Dublin Zoo, who shall be the owner of the copyright and will not accept liability for loss or damage to any work submitted. All entries are non-returnable so please ensure a copy of the original work is retained. 
    • Entries may be completed in Irish or English. 
    • All entries together with the Entrant’s details (first name and school) may be used in publicity campaigns (such as social media channels, websites and other points of sale or marketing materials) after the Competition has finalised.  
    • The deadline for entry submission is 5pm 16th March 2026. 
    • The winners will be notified by the contact email and/or phone number provided. If the winner cannot be reached by telephone within a reasonable timeframeDublin Zoo reserves the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner. 
    • Please ensure that the following information is included with each entry: Teacher’s name, Class, School name, School roll number, entrant’s name, contact email and phone number.   
    • Winners will be chosen from each category and will be judged by the Dublin Zoo’s Conservation Education Team. 
    • The following Prizes will be distributed: 

    Competition 1: Class Rainforest Art Students from Junior Infants – 2nd 

    2 winners will be chosen with the following prizes:
    A family ticket (two adults and two children) to visit Dublin Zoo in 2026. A rainforest-themed gift pack for their classroom 

    Competition 2: Rainforest Action Poster Students from 3rd Class – 6th Class  

    2 winners will be chosen with the following prizes:
    A family ticket (two adults and two children) to visit Dublin Zoo in 2026.  A rainforest-themed gift pack for their classroom 

     

    • No cash or other alternative will be offered, and the prize is non-refundable and non-transferable. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the Promoter reserves the right to offer an alternative prize of equal or greater value. 
    • Photographs, footage and quotes from the winning entries work may be used in future years for the purposes of promoting future Dublin Zoo competitions. By submitting an entry, entrants consent to photographs and/or footage of their entry work to be used for promotional purposes, and for the avoidance of doubt, no personal information will be contained in the photographs, footage and quotes. 
    • Dublin Zoo cannot accept responsibility for lost, damaged or delayed entries. Proof of posting is not proof of receipt. Entries will not be returned to entrants. 
    • The Promoter reserves the right at any time and from time to time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, this promotion without prior notice due to reasons outside its control (including, without limitation, in any case of anticipated, suspected or actual fraud). 
    • Dublin Zoo reserves the right to disqualify any entrant for any reason whatsoever in its sole discretion. 
    • The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
