Education and Development Executive
Family Farm, developed by Agri Aware and Dublin Zoo
Agri Aware, the Irish agri-food educational body, in collaboration with Dublin Zoo, developed an interactive educational resource at Family Farm in Dublin Zoo in May 2010. With over 1 million visitors per year, Family Farm is a key venue to communicate the importance of the Irish agri-food industry to the general public.
Having won the European Commission’s ‘Common Agricultural Policy 50 Communication Award’ for Family Farm, Agri Aware and Dublin Zoo now wish to build on the Family Farm resource by recruiting a suitably qualified individual to improve the image and understanding of farming and the agri-food industry among the general public.
The role
The Education and Development Executive will be responsible for furthering the mission statement of Agri Aware - ‘to improve the image and understanding of agriculture, farming and the food industry among the general public’ via the Family Farm resource in Dublin Zoo.
This will be achieved by the interpretation, development and delivery of relevant interactive educational programmes and initiatives aimed at students of all ages and the general public.
Applicants should be highly motivated and enthusiastic, with excellent social and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be able to work on their own and/or as part of a team, manage several projects simultaneously and be flexible.
The successful individual will be based between Agri Aware and Dublin Zoo and will report to the Executive Director of Agri Aware and the Head of Education at Dublin Zoo.
