Conservation Master Plan Conservation Master Plan
Dublin Zoo’s Discovery and Learning Department have over 35 years’ experience delivering learning programmes. The team of staff and volunteers are key players in reaching the DZ200 vision to become a zoo-based conservation organisation of national and global impact.
The Conservation Education Master Plan provides the team with the roadmap to inspire our audiences to save wildlife and to cultivate the next generation of conservationists.

Dublin Zoo has the ambition to operate a sustainable visitor attraction. Being a sustainable organisation requires more than just looking after the environment. In addition to conserving natural resources and biodiversity, Dublin Zoo is also committed to being socially and economically sustainable.
The Sustainability Master Plan sets out a programme of actions to ensure Dublin Zoo is creating net positive economic environmental and social impacts, and that the Zoo itself is resilient and financially sustainable in the long term.

Dublin Zoo is home to a successful breeding herd of Asian elephants and actively participates in the EAZA Asian elephant Ex Situ Programme (EEP). The elephants at Dublin Zoo regularly contribute to scientific research on a huge variety of topics which have helped inform animal management practices and conservation actions.
Dublin Zoo’s elephant programme has attracted the interest of zoo professional from all over the world and has allowed us to successfully breed Asian elephants for the first time in Ireland. We have now successfully bred two generations of Asian elephants at Dublin Zoo, making a substantial contribution to the conservation of this iconic species.
