5. Location Services in the Dublin Zoo Official App

5.1 Location

If you have given us your consent, we will track the location of your mobile phone while on-site at Dublin Zoo. Location data enables the use of location-based services (LBS), such as map services or location-based information via push notifications.

We use your device’s location services and sensor data (e.g. Bluetooth data, beacon data, Wi-Fi access points, GPS data and mobile phone data), as some of our products and services use location data for access control purposes and/or to provide you with location-based information within Dublin Zoo.

If you have activated persistent background location services on your device, we can determine the location of your device, while on-site only, even if you don’t have the app open. The persistent background location services use various technologies to determine your exact location, e.g. the location services of your operating system or browser, sensor data from your device (e.g. magnetometers, barometers, gyroscopes, accelerometers, compasses, Bluetooth data, beacon data, Wi-Fi access points, GPS data and mobile data).

You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before you withdrew.

5.2 Location and push-notifications

We ask for separate, informed choices with regard to location data and push-notifications. Granting a device permission does not by itself replace an in-app GDPR consent request.

You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before you withdrew.

6. Who receives your information

We share personal data only where needed for the purposes above, including with:

  • Attractions.io, which provides and hosts mobile-app services for Dublin Zoo and acts as a processor under contract.
  • Mailchimp, used separately by the Dublin Zoo Marketing Team to manage mailing lists and newsletters.
  • Authorised Dublin Zoo staff and service providers who need access to operate, support or secure the app.

We do not sell personal data.

7. International transfers

We may transfer your personal data to countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where we do so, we will ensure that an appropriate safeguard is in place, such as an adequacy decision or approved standard contractual clauses, and will apply any additional measures required by data-protection law. You may contact us for further information about these safeguards.

8. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against accidental or unlawful loss, alteration, disclosure, access, destruction or other misuse. These measures include access controls, secure systems and appropriate contractual safeguards with our service providers. We regularly review our security measures and update them where necessary.

9. Your Data-Protection Rights

You may have the right to:

  • access your personal data and receive a copy;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • have data erased;
  • restrict how data is used;
  • receive certain data in a portable format;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests or to direct marketing; and
  • withdraw consent at any time.
  • to object to automated decision making

To exercise a right, contact Dublin Zoo by emailing [email protected] . We may need information to verify your identity. You also have the right to complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission.
