  • What dates will Wild Lights take place at Dublin Zoo?

    Wild Lights opens on Friday 28th October 2022 and runs until Monday 9th January 2023. 

    Please see evenings available on selected months: 

    • October: The last Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday of the month.  
    • November: Every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 
    • December: Every evening (Monday – Sunday). However, it will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and St. Stephen’s Day. 
    • January: Saturday, 1st January – Monday, 9th January 
  • What time does the experience start and finish?

    Admission times to Wild Lights are as follow:  

    • 5pm-9pm (Last entry is strictly 8.00pm) 
    • Sessions are 5pm, 6pm, 7pm.  
  • Is my time limited?

    No, once you enter Dublin Zoo, your time is not limited and you can stay until we close.  

    Please remember to double-check the last entry time for the date you’ll be visiting.  

  • Who is Wild Lights suitable for?

    The experience is suitable for all ages, families, couples and groups alike. This experience is wheelchair and buggy accessible. 

  • Is the Wild Lights’ route wheelchair and buggy accessible?

    Yes, the route has been designed so that wheelchairs and buggies can get around as easily as possible.

  • Can I rent a wheelchair?

    We have 10 wheelchairs available at the front gate which are cleaned and sanitised before each use. To reserve a wheelchair, please email info@dublinzoo.ie with your name and the date and time of your visit. 

  • Can I bring a guide dog?

    Guide dogs are not permitted into Wild Lights.

  • What will be different this year compared to previous years?

    Wild Lights is back with an exciting brand new theme for this year – The Magic of Life! 

    Over a thousand breath-taking, dazzling lanterns will portray a fascinating and important story by shining a light on biodiversity. 

    Travel through the illuminated and magical woodland scenes before encountering the wondrous pollinators including giant bees and bee-hives. See some of nature’s most amazing transformations from the metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a stunning butterfly to the intriguing co-operation between ants in a colony.  

    Discover the abundance and diversity of life in the tree tops of our rainforests and then dive underwater and witness some of the most beautiful sea creatures and the mesmerising coral – all lit up through magical hand-crafted traditional Chinese lanterns.   

    Through this transformation of Dublin Zoo visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the Magic of Life and also the role they can play to help our planet.  

  • Will I see any animals?

    No, it’s very unlikely you’ll see the animals as at that time of year they’ll mostly be in their indoor habitats and houses where it’s warm! 

  • If I buy a Wild Lights ticket, can I come to the Zoo in the daytime?

    No, Wild Lights admission tickets do not give admission to the Zoo during daytime operating hours. 

  • Will Wild Lights go ahead in bad weather?

    Wild Lights will still go ahead unless weather conditions are deemed unsafe for our visitors, staff and animals, in which the event will be cancelled. Please see our cancellation policy below.  

  • What should I wear?

    Please be aware that this is an outdoor winter experience so please dress appropriately.  

  • I have luggage, where can I leave it?

    There are lockers available at the entrance. The lockers cost €2. Once you pay, you can operate the lockers via the key.

    Note: In line with standard protocol for past Wild Lights, backpacks and large bags are not permitted. Only small bags measuring no bigger than A4 (8.27in/21cm x 11.7/ 29.7cm) will be permitted into the Zoo.

  • Are there cash machines on-site?

    There is one ATM on-site at Wild Lights, located in the main gift shop at the entrance of the Zoo.  

  • Security Arrangements for Entry

    Entry to Wild Lights is subject to bag searches. For the safety and enjoyment of all attending, An Garda Síochána and Dublin Zoo request that patrons leave bags at home while attending Wild Lights.

    Note: In line with standard protocol for past Wild Lights, backpacks and large bags are not permitted. Only small bags measuring no bigger than A4 (8.27in/21cm x 11.7/ 29.7cm) will be permitted into the Zoo.
     

    Exceptions will be made for people with medical conditions and children, but all bags will be subject to search.

    This is an alcohol and drug-free experience. 

    Management reserves the right to refuse admission and to eject any persons attempting to interfere with Wild Lights at Dublin Zoo or gain access to any non-public areas within the Zoo. Please note and adhere to all public signage and staff instructions while in the Zoo. 

  • Is the Gift Shop open?

    Yes, the Dublin Zoo gift shop will be open. Alternatively, you can visit our online Zootique to purchase your Dublin Zoo gifts and have them posted to you.

  • Will the toilet facilities be open?

    Yes, there will be select toilets available along the trail.  

  • Will there be food and beverages available to purchase at the event?

    There will be select food and beverage kiosks available for take away services along the trail.

Directions and Parking

  • How to get to Wild Lights in Dublin Zoo?

    Dublin Zoo is situated in Phoenix Park in the city of Dublin. The city is easily accessible from all over Ireland by car, bus and train.

    Dublin Bus is the easiest and most extensive travel network in Dublin. Please double-check bus timetables before you depart as each line does not run all day. 

    The bus routes that stop closest to Dublin Zoo are: C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, 26, 46A, 69

  • Where can I park?

    There is no designated parking for Dublin Zoo in Phoenix Park and parking will be on a first-come basis, but below are our suggested parking based on your time slot:

    5-6pm: Park on the Upper North road, Garda Headquarters and Married Quarters

    6-7pm:  Park on Lords Walk car park and Citadel Pond

    7-8pm:  North Road

  • Visitors with Additional Needs

    There are no concession tickets for visitors with additional needs aside from the entry of a free carer, a standard child or adult ticket must be purchased.  

    Visitors with additional needs may admit one accompanying carer free of charge when attending Wild Lights. Free of charge carer tickets are required for entry and can be acquired by contacting the Dublin Zoo Wild Lights’ Team at wildlights@dublinzoo.ie 

    Please bring relevant ID and documentation, such as an IAA Autism ID card, or an associated membership card that confirms the visitor is unable to visit Wild Lights at Dublin Zoo independently without the aid of a carer or mobility aid. 

  • Is this experience accessible for wheelchairs and buggies?

    Yes, the route has been designed so that wheelchairs and buggies can get around as easily as possible. 

    For visitors with mobility issues, Dublin Zoo has a limited number of wheelchairs. These wheelchairs are available on a first-come first-served basis. 

  • Can I rent a wheelchair?

  • What date are tickets for Wild Lights on sale?

    Tickets are on sale from Wednesday 21st of September 2022. Tickets will be available online only on www.dublinzoo.ie 

  • How do I buy tickets?

    Tickets are only available to buy online at www.dublinzoo.ie 

    There will be no ticket sales available from the ticket office at Dublin Zoo or over the phone.  

  • How long will my ticket be valid for?

    Wild Lights is a date and time-specific experience. Tickets are valid for the chosen date and time of booking ONLY. Tickets are non-refundable. 

  • What is the entrance cost to Wild Lights?

    General Public
    Adults: €23
    Child: €19
    Under 3s: €0 (a ticket is still required that must be added to online purchase free of charge)
    Student: €20
    OAP: €20 

    Annual Pass Holders
    Adults: €21
    Child: €17
    Student: €19
    OAP: €19 

  • Do Children under 3 go free?

    Yes, children aged under 3 go free to Wild Lights but they must have a valid ticket to enter which can be added to your purchase free of charge at www.dublinzoo.ie  

  • Students/Senior Citizens

    Students and Senior Citizens can attend Wild Lights at a discounted rate. They must bring a valid ID when presenting their ticket at the gate. 

  • Visitors with Additional Needs

    There are no concession tickets available for visitors with additional needs aside from the entry of a free carer, a standard child or adult ticket must be purchased.

  • I would like to make a corporate booking or a booking for a large group, how do I book and what are the rates?

    Corporate bookings can be made by emailing the Wild Lights Team at wildlights@dublinzoo.ie or by calling (01) 4748900. 

  • Can I change the date of my Wild Lights ticket?

    Dublin Zoo offers Wild Lights ticket purchasers the option to change the date of their tickets up to 7 days before the date of the original ticket to Wild Lights.  

    There are two options:  

    1. If you have set up an online account with DigiTickets when you purchased your Wild Lights tickets, you can change your date free of charge up to 7 days before the date of the original ticket to Wild Lights.   
    2. You can also email the Wild Lights Team to change your ticket dates, this can be done up to 7 days before the date of the original ticket. Using this option, there will be an admin fee of €3 per ticket for date changes. If you wish to avail of this option, please email wildlights@dublinzoo.ie with your booking reference, the date you booked, the date you would like to change to, the name and email address you used to book and a contact telephone number.

    There is no option to change ticket dates if it is less than 7 days from the date of the original ticket. 

  • How far in advance do I need to book?

    Tickets go on sale from 21st  September and will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Book early to avoid disappointment! 

  • Do I need to print my ticket for entry?

    No, we don’t require tickets to be printed. E-tickets can be scanned on any mobile device. However, if you wish to print your ticket we will accept them in paper format too. 

  • I don't have my ticket confirmation, what should I do?

    You should have received an email from Dublin Zoo after booking with your ticket information however, due to high volumes of site traffic on certain dates, this is sometimes delayed. If you have not received this, have a look in your junk/spam email folder. If you are still having difficulties, email wildlights@dublinzoo.ie with your booking reference, the date you booked, the name and email address you used to book and a contact telephone number, and we will be happy to help. 

  • If I buy a Wild Lights ticket, can I come to the Zoo in the daytime?

    No, Wild Lights admission tickets do not give admission to the Zoo during daytime operating hours. 

  • Do Dublin Zoo Annual Pass holders get a discount?

    Yes, if you have a valid Dublin Zoo annual pass card then you will be entitled to a discount. The rate for an annual pass for adults is €21 and for children is €17. 

  • What do I need to avail of the Annual Pass holder’s discount?

    A valid annual pass is required to avail of the annual pass discount. You will be required to enter your unique annual pass number when booking online. A valid annual pass matching the name on the Wild Lights ticket will also need to be presented on arrival at the Dublin Zoo entrance. Normal annual pass T&C’s apply. 

  • Do Fota Wildlife Park Annual Pass holders get a discount?

    No, we do not offer a discount for Fota Wildlife Park’s annual pass holders.

Cancellation Policy

  • What is Dublin Zoo's ticket cancellation policy for Wild Lights?

    Dublin Zoo does not offer refunds for Wild Lights tickets apart from in the event of a venue closure actioned by Dublin Zoo. 

    In the event of a cancellation of Wild Lights, attendees will be notified at the earliest convenience by email to the email address used to book the tickets. It is the responsibility of the attendees to check their emails before departing for the event to check for any updates and to make sure email addresses are correctly entered when booking tickets.  

    In the event of a cancellation, attendees will be given a full refund which they will receive within 15 working days of the cancelled event.  

    Dublin Zoo accepts no responsibility for a customer’s inability to attend Wild Lights due to any external factor including but not exclusive to traffic restrictions, illness, weather conditions etc. 

    Dublin Zoo reserves the right to change or update experience timings and content up to and on the day of the event. 

  • What happens if my date is cancelled?

    Dublin Zoo reserves the right to cancel any nights of Wild Lights for any reason deemed necessary for the safety and well-being of our visitors, staff and animals including unsafe weather conditions.  

    In the event of a cancellation of Wild Lights, attendees will be notified at the earliest convenience by email to the email address used to book the tickets. It is the responsibility of the attendees to check their emails before departing for Wild Lights to check for any updates, and to make sure email addresses are correctly entered when booking tickets.  

    In the event of a cancellation, attendees will be given a full refund which they will receive within 15 working days maximum of the cancelled date.
