  • Diet: Herbivore – mainly fruit, leaves, nectar

The red-ruffed lemur spends most of its time searching for food. They live in groups of two to 16 animals. They have a very loud mechanical sounding call and scent marking is also an important means of communication.

Keeper’s Secret

The red-ruffed lemur lives 15 to 20 years in the wild and in zoos, 25 years is not uncommon.
