Tyrannosaurus rex

Tyrannosaurus rex (TIE-ran-oh-saw-rass)

Age: 65 million years old

Height: (at hip) 3.7 metres

Length: 12.2 metres

Weight: 8–9 tonnes

Skull: 1.4 metres long

Teeth: sharp as steak knives, the size of a banana. The largest are 30cm long.

Birth: hatched from an egg, probably lived with his family when young.

An adult T. rex had the strongest bite of any land animal that ever lived. Its massive jaw muscles could exert a force roughly equivalent to that of a medium size elephant sitting o

Scientists simply don’t know why T. rex had such tiny arms. There have been some guesses about how they used them, but none of them are particularly convincing.
