General Assistant - Grade One

Non 39 Hour Permanent Vacancy

DUBLIN ZOO holds the prestigious position of being ‘Ireland’s leading Fee Paying Family Attraction’ welcoming in excess of one million visitors each year.

We are currently seeking to recruit a highly motivated General Assistant, Grade One, within our Animal Care Team.

The ideal candidate will be passionate and knowledgeable about wildlife and will have the skills required to communicate this passion and knowledge directly to our visitors.  

He/she must demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of animal husbandry, diets and environmental enrichment, as well as an understanding and knowledge of research, conservation and health and safety practices.

Ecology Facilitator 

Flexible Fixed Term Contract

Dublin Zoo’s mission is to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature through involvement in conservation and by inspiring passion through education and engaging visitor experiences.

Dublin Zoo is currently seeking a highly motivated ecology facilitator to join our Discovery and Learning Team. This is a unique and sought after opportunity and the ideal candidate will lead junior and leaving certificate ecology modules in the Phoenix Park.

The successful candidate will be well-organised and energetic, with an ability to communicate with secondary school students.  Understanding of grassland/woodland ecology and experience of the secondary school science and biology syllabus is important.

This is a 3 month flexible contract. The successful candidate will be required to commence employment on Wednesday 6th March and this temporary contract will terminate at the end of the current academic year. Flexible hours will be scheduled over 5 weekdays throughout the academic calendar, excluding school midterm breaks.

Part Time General Assistant, Grade Two

Permanent Part Time Vacancy

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated part time General Assistant, Grade Two, within our Animal Care Team.

The ideal candidate will be passionate and knowledgeable about wildlife and will have the skills required to communicate this passion and knowledge directly to our visitors.

S/he must demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of animal husbandry, diets and environmental enrichment, as well as an understanding and knowledge of research, conservation and health and safety practices.

The successful candidate must have experience working in a similar role in a Zoological Garden and/or Wildlife Park and must be willing to undertake and successfully complete the Sparsholt Animal Management Diploma Course within two years of being appointed to the position of GA2.
