Rhino Conservation

Dublin Zoo has been supporting the Lowveld Rhino Trust in Zimbabwe since 2009. The Lowveld conservancies are home to approximately 50% of Zimbabwe’s white rhinos and 80% of the country’s black rhinos. In 2011, the Trust was successful in reducing poaching down from 16.3% of the population in 2008 to 4.5% in 2011!

Dublin Zoo helps critically endangered waldrapp ibis

The waldrapp ibis is one of the most endangered species in the world. The remaining stronghold for this species is the Souss-Massa National Park in Morocco. To continuing conserving this species, it is essential that the range and movements of this species are better understood. Therefore, Dublin Zoo has sponsored the satellite tagging of a waldrapp ibis in the Souss-Massa National Park. To learn more, please visit the Waldrapp Ibis Conservation page.
