Red-crested turaco – data collection expedition
The red-crested turaco is not currently globally threatened. However, they are endemic to war-torn Angola and very little surveying of this species has been done recently. The situation in Angola has eased allowing surveying of birds. Dublin Zoo helped sponsor a surveying trip to ascertain the status of many of Angola’s birds including the red-crested turaco. Preliminary results are showing that thankfully, this species is still numerous in the areas surveyed.
