Thailand Hornbill Project

In 2007 Dublin Zoo commenced annual sponsorship of a family of great hornbills in Thailand as part of the Thailand Hornbill Project. The great hornbill has a large range but its numbers are believed to be decreasing (IUCN, 2010). This project is run by the Hornbill Research Foundation in Mahidol University in Bangkok. The money donated goes towards subsiding local villagers who protect the birds and collect scientific data in the Budo-Sungai Padi National Park.
